Does Google know everything?

So I was quickly chatting with a mate the other day, who went silent while I was on the phone with him then starts reciting what just happened to him in the last 20 seconds… He’s received an email from his girlfriend saying something like “yep let’s do dinner on Thursday” as he’s reading the rest of the email a little announcement pops up saying - do you want to add dinner on Thursday to your diary?… amazing. Latest technology with Google’s Gmail enables users to allow it to scan the content for important dates and information which should be added to their diary.
In talking with other friends, it’s really reconfirmed with me how much Google is king in the online space. They are so far ahead of their game it’s not funny. We now Google things – did we ever Yahoo things?? They’ve made a brand in the market which has gone past the stage being a brand, it’s become a verb as well as a noun. New technology being released by the company almost daily offers so many opportunities to business.
I’ve recently become a major fan of Google Trends – google.com/trends, which enables users to see peaks and troughs as to when people are searching different terms through Google over the past 5yrs or more. From a marketing point, imagine being able to see when one brand is being searched more over another, or where your competitors sit against you in web searches. Incredible stuff.
As mentioned, more and more services are being brought to the table by Google. Only earlier this month, the company announced the launch of Google AdSense for games which allows advertisers and content roducers to place ads within the content of online games.
As they say:
“As a user of AdSense for Games, you can display video ads, image ads, or text ads within your online games to earn revenue. You’ll be able to show these ads in placements you define, such as interstitial frames before a game, after a level change, or when a game is over.”
Absolutely brilliant stuff, take a look at the demo video if you’re keen by clicking here.
